Two study sites:

Ardières River, LTER Ardières-Morcille, Beaujolais vineyard area

Tillet River, tributary of Lake Bourget (Savoie)

Main objectives:

To implement a combination of innovative chemical and biological tools and approaches in contaminated rivers characterized by different anthropogenic pressures (agricultural vs urban/industrial) in order to:

• Characterize the contamination of surface water, surface sediment and suspended matters by a wide range of micropollutants (pesticides, pharmaceuticals, metals, PAHs, PCBs)
• Assess the functional role of benthic communities of microorganisms and invertebrates in the sediment compartment
• Evaluate the ecological effects of micropollutants in the two rivers through the structural and functional assessment of the autochthonous benthic communities
